CSUMB Institute for Innovation & Economic Development

The Institute focuses on the need for more jobs in the region and for our graduating students and offers programs that work toward developing entrepreneurs and supporting innovative ideas that lead to new business opportunities in the region. iiED looks within the university and local research institutions to establish projects that assist students, investors, and entrepreneurs in successful internships, resources, and project development.

MIIS Center for Social Impact Learning

The Frontier Market Scouts (FMS) is a social enterprise management and impact investment certificate training and fellowship program founded in 2011 that has trained more than 300 professionals since its inception.  FMS received a 2013 Cordes Innovation Award and the 2016 Cordes Innovation Hall of Fame Award from AshokaU.

UCSC Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurial Development

CIED promotes the development, research, and teaching of innovation and entrepreneurship at UC Santa Cruz and its global partners. The UC Santa Cruz Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development (CIED) was formed in 1979 by Dr. Narubder Kapany and a group of UC Santa Cruz faculty. Dr. Kapany served as CIED Director for seven years, and under his leadership CIED was a pioneer in entrepreneurship training and helped successfully launch several startups by UCSC faculty and alumni.

Santa Cruz Small Business Development Center

The Santa Cruz Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a nonprofit organization that provides expert no-cost advising, low cost workshops and small business training’s to guide small businesses to success and accomplishment.  The Santa Cruz SBDC serves all of Santa Cruz County, is hosted by Cabrillo Community College, and is part of the Northern California SBDC network.  We work hands-on with entrepreneurs and business owners to address challenges, seize opportunities and grow our client’s bottom line.

The CSUMB Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides entrepreneurs and small businesses in Monterey and San Benito Counties with high quality consulting, support for innovation, access to information and tools necessary to build successful sustainable businesses.
